HARRY POTTER, SERENA WILLIAMS, AND THE BRILLIANT USTA.

At first, you would think what on earth does Harry Potter, Serena Williams and the brilliant USTA have in common to be written about by the “grow the game guy from Miami”? This is of course a fair point until you give me a chance to explain. First I would like to explain how this article came about, yesterday someone sent me VF’s article on Serena Williams, then someone else sent me a nice video article by Jon Wertheim, also worth watching, I printed the article and gave it to my teen daughter, I think Serena’s story is not only amazing and admirable but real, we have seen her play many times here in Miami and watched her win time and time again on TV. So, her story is of course the story of “girl power” and I find it appropriate for anyone to read about her, especially young girls. Let us not forget the movie King Richard, in which we had the fortune to see a real kid, become the world’s best tennis player and a dominant figure for over 20 years, it is like seeing a queen of the sport growing up in front of our eyes, simply fabulous.
I have no desire to write about her titles and her struggles, but I do have a desire to make my points and what I am known for (growing the game) clearer to my readers and global audience with the imminent retirement of this great American star. The missed opportunity that the…
