These past two weeks have been as annoying as they can be for me. First the AO and the Djokovic debacle. then after all that mess went away, I wanted to watch some matches to watch later in the day so I can analyze them and learn from them like I normally do. The problem was they were nowhere to be found. Wait! I pay $300.00 a month for ATT for what I thought was everything, but not if I wanted to watch a full tennis match, I had to come up with another $68.00 for the year. I have no problem in paying for one month and watching the AO, but then that forces me to remember to cancel, which I will not and then I end up paying more every year. I am not discussing the value of what is on ESPN+, I am sure they have smart executives who have done the math and realize that cable is only going down in subscribers year after year. The point I am trying to make is that the delivery of tennis better change and quickly or it will be simply too confusing for most people to find. I am very well versed digitally and have all the gadgets you can imagine but getting to see AO was just too much of a hassle.
This event of course made me realize what is going on with cable and ESPN. Here are some facts that will help you understand the shifts in the market…
