Fernandez family, mixed race Philippines, Ecuador, Canada, simply wonderful.

Throughout the world, and being the envy of the planet the United States is known as the country of immigrants and for immigrants. It is a country that most Americans who are born here don’t fully appreciate or realize just how wonderful a place it is with all its faults and set of characters and personalities, yes that includes all of the bad ones (Megan Kelly). The objective of this article is to ask you respectfully to watch this 90-second interview of Leyla Fernandez’s dad and notice his reaction of love and devotion to his adopted new country Canada. When asked what does it mean to see Leyla represent Canada tonight, pay close attention to his answer, that brief silence and loss of composure is the deep appreciation of what the country means to him and other immigrants like him and his pause describes with out words what an honor it is to play for the adopted land.

This raw emotion is what would be defined as the goodwill of the country, the raw intangible that makes an asset very valuable and of course a nation. It is precisely this goodwill that the brilliant USTA executives overlook on a daily basis in this country and miss deliberately the very population that can make tennis grow in the US.
