The 2022 version of the US Open is over and we have two new young international stars from very small and relatively poor countries. Carlos Alcaraz from Spain and Iga Swiatek from Poland. Much of the two-week show was handled well by three important entertainment facts.

- Serena’s retirement and the obvious interest that generated

- Tiafoe’s run to the semis, an unheard-of task for the last few decades for an American player

- The consolidation of Carlos Alcaraz as a real superstar and the confirmation of Iga Swiatek as the new female number one.

All these facts plus the good weather made the US Open a good event indeed. But just as the event was good it is important to make the executives of the USTA come back to reality and explain to them the facts about tennis in the United States. Of course, every one of the executives will be writing on LinkedIn just how great a job they did, show stars, show attendance records, even parade Michelle Obama, and think that all is good. Well, dear USTA CEO, Board, and executives let me you the truth, you heard me right, Snap Out of it!
