The Monsignor and the farcical USTA by Javier Palenque

A few weeks ago, on a regular day I decided to go to church, while there I saw our church’s monsignor (The title of monsignor in the Roman Catholic Church signifies a priest who has distinguished himself and has been honored by the Pope for his service to the church. Monsignor is an honorary title, rather than a specific position in the church hierarchy, so a monsignor does not necessarily have any duties distinct from those of any other priest.) and asked him if we can sit down and speak for a few moments. He acquiesced and we sat and spoke for a good 15 minutes about this and that. When I had my chance I said to him:

- Monsignor, I have a hard time making my kids pay attention to your sermons, and quite frankly they dislike coming to Church on Sundays. Is there any way you can make the sermons more attractive to younger people?

To which he replied in two ways:

- First his eyes stared at me like telling me: you are guilty of them not engaging, its your responsibility, he never said that but I felt that. Then he said you just have to make them like it.

Respectfully I said, OK Monsignor, do you have any suggestions to follow as I tried many and none seem to work, I also bring them, here and I know for a fact that they pay no attention, they might as well be watching youtube in…
