In real life, if you solve a need for someone or a group, you maybe have a situation that can be turned into a business. The more people have the same problem that needs to be solved, the more likely it is that you have a business that may takeoff. In entrepreneurship, of course, the only main question for wanting to start a business is: “what problem are you solving”. This is the logic used by any business and this is how small businesses grow over time and the smart ones can scale the original idea. Ex. Starbucks, KFC, Google, Facebook, Office Depot, Windows, Apple, etc.

Back in the 1970s, there was a huge need for activities and entertainment, this is around the time ATP and WTA were founded. As time passed, both were pretty good along with the Grand Slams in cashing in the entertainment side of tennis and this was the boom era in tennis overall. It was a success.

While football became America’s sport to watch during the 1970s, tennis became America’s game to play. Tennis became the “in” sport. The country’s middle class embraced tennis, spending millions of dollars on equipment and clothing. By the end of the decade, it was estimated that more than a quarter of America’s population — and a nearly equal number of blacks and whites — played tennis at least four times a year.
